Membership

The membership year shall follow the State’s fiscal year which is July 1 through June 30.

DATE: July 07, 2016

This is an invitation to join the Support Coordination Association of Florida (SCAF). We are a growing Association of WSC’s that have accomplished some significant things for WSC’s in Florida this past year as we continue to extend our reach and influence across the state and at numerous levels of decision-making. It is likely that you have already heard of us but if not, we would like to introduce ourselves and urge you to join our ranks.

We believe we have created a WSC Association that is unique in the history of WSC Associations. We pride ourselves on being an extremely responsive and hard-working Association with a Board of Directors that sees its sole reason for existing advocating for the needs and concerns of Waiver Support Coordinators out there doing the work. *The SCAF Board is composed of Waiver Support Coordinators whose continuous experience dates back to 1993. All SCAF members have direct access to the Board and have an opportunity to both influence SCAF policy and address issues by simply emailing the SCAF Board and filing a Member Concern.

***Your membership is TREMENDOUSLY important. We have WSC members from all corners of Florida now. Our members are solo/independent WSC’s, WSC’s from small agencies, and WSC’s from large agencies. SCAF without question “plows a great deal of water” with APD and other key decision makers in the State of Florida largely because we have a substantial membership, we are active, and we are persistent. SCAF has been at the table with top level APD management (including Barbara Palmer herself) on several issues of real importance to ground-level WSC’s. We have and will continue to network with the Florida House and Senate as well.

SCAF was started with the understanding that there was a real need for an Association that represented any and all Waiver Support Coordinators (regardless of agency or solo status). We also recognized that there was a real need to influence our own destinies as WSC’s by forming an effective association that identified problems we all face in the course of coordinating services for the developmentally disabled populations we serve.  We have actively addressed these problems with APD and Florida Government and will continue to do so. We have made excellent connects in our first year of existence.

•Our members regularly receive ‘Member Information blasts’ and periodic Newsletters. We want you to know what we are doing. Always.

•The SCAF Board tirelessly works at making SCAF a responsive, lean, and effective problem-solver with both the Florida Legislature and APD Tallahassee management. We regularly meet and communicate with both of these decision makers at the Field Office, Regional Office, Tallahassee Program Office, and legislative levels. We want to represent your concerns and issues to these key players as we currently do for existing members.

•We have an outstanding Member Complaint Ticketing System which ensures that any and all SCAF Member concerns are without fail addressed and the member complainant gets a response to their issue. No member ‘falls through the cracks.’ All Members have access to our Member Complaint System – this is your mechanism to direct the activities of this Association. If there is something you are experiencing that is preventing you from doing solid and effective case management for your caseload SCAF wants to know about it. Really.

•We strive to be a communicator with our membership base and never want to be an Association wherein the membership has any doubts about what we are doing.

•SCAF is actively pursuing numerous issues important to all WSC’s including development of a mentorship and assistance program for struggling and new WSC’s, advocating for more common-sense systems that will enhance the WSC workflow (so that you can work with your consumers more effectively), identification of problems and solutions related to the iBudget System, pursuing a professional and respectful relationship between APD at all levels and WSC’s, pushing for more timely and effective communication from APD to the WSC on forms, issues, and projects and efforts that affect us, we recently solidly engaged APD over problems related to the 16-17 Fiscal Year exercise and many, many other issues as well.

*This is an awful lot of ‘bang for your buck’ at $50.00 per year. This is your opportunity to have a voice in the both the current playing field and in the future of Waiver Support Coordination in Florida.

To become a Support Coordination Association of Florida member send in your Member Application and $50.00 to the which is listed on this correspondence (below). An application can be filled out directly on our Website which is then printed off, allowing you to mail it. Or simply send an email to the SCAF Email address () requesting an application and we will promptly email you a current Member Application.

We look forward to your joining and we look forward to working for you!
